London Upcycling Competition 2017

London Upcycling Competition

Are you an amateur upcycler (over 18 years old) or a community group eager to transform a pre-loved piece of furniture into an upcycled masterpiece? If so, take the challenge and enter our upcycling competition!

You could win one of these prizes:

• £150 voucher for a DIY store - for ‘Overall Winner’

• £100 voucher for a DIY store - for ‘Best in your Category’

• £80 voucher for a DIY store - for ‘People’s Choice'

You need to live, work or study in one of the following north London boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest.

Groundwork London will provide 25 goody bags with a minimum value of £10 to everyone who has entered their upcycled items into the competition. They will be given this at the Show on the 19 November to say thank you for participating.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Complete the online entry form by midday on 20 October 2017.

You can choose to upcycle furniture from one of five categories:

• a bedside cabinet for a child
• an upright chair
• an armchair
• a side table
• a sideboard

Or if you want it to be a surprise, we’ll choose one of the above categories for you! Places are limited to five entries per category.

Groundwork London will source and deliver a piece of furniture to participants, from their selected category.

Step 2: We will contact you to arrange delivery of the piece of furniture to your chosen address in north London between 23 and 27 October 2017.

Step 3: Upcycle away! Methods can include painting, refurbishment, redecoration or use of the item for another purpose rather than its designated use as long as it can be reused within the home.

Step 4: Have your piece finished and ready for collection by 4pm on 13 November 2017. We will call you to arrange a collection date and time during that week.

Let us know by 13 November 2017 if you want to take home your piece of furniture at the end of the show or donate it to the Groundwork London Loop project.

Step 5: Come along with friends and family on 19 November from 11am to 3pm to see your work displayed and judged at the London Upcycling Show at Waltham Forest Assembly Hall (E17 4JF). Plus, enjoy all the great upcycling workshops, demonstrations, stalls and refreshments on offer at the show.

The judges will give a prize for the best in each category, the overall winner plus there will be a ‘People’s Choice’ prize chosen by the public who visit the show.

Step 6: Depending on your decision at Step 4, either take your item home with you at the end of the show, or we’ll make sure it is delivered to one of Groundwork London’s Repurpose shops.

Please read through the guidance notes and terms and conditions to check your eligibility before applying, and good luck.
